Audi R8 E-Tron:

Good news: Audi's off-again, on-again electric supercar--the R8 e-tron--is now confirmed for production.

Bad news: You won't be able to buy one, as the company has decided to make just ten vehicles, all for research purposes only.

The company confirmed to Autocar that it has produced ten R8 e-tron models, but none will be offered to customers.

Instead, the ten will be used for internal testing and development only. In a recent press release, the company stated, "Through the R8 e-tron, Audi has acquired extensive expertise that will benefit its electrified production models."

Those production models include the A3 e-tron plug-in hybrid and others rumored to be on the horizon.

The R8 e-tron is one of the company's higher-profile models. Based on the regular (if such a word can be used in relation to a supercar like the R8) V-8 and V-10 models, it instead uses a lithium-ion battery and twin electric motors.

With 376 horsepower and 604 pounds-feet of torque, 0-62 mph takes just 4.2 seconds, and top speed is limited to 124 mph.

Torque vectoring helps the R8 e-tron corner as quickly as any electric car has a right to, and contributed to its production car lap record at the famed Nürburgring circuit in Germany last year.

Part of the reason for Audi's change of heart is thought to be the slow progress of battery technology.

Rumors persist that Audi had expected the cost of batteries to fall more than it has--making the project more financially viable--and that the technology would have allowed for a greater range than the e-tron's 130-odd miles by now.

Whatever the reason for Audi's decision to cancel volume production of the R8 e-tron, it now means Audi fans may have to wait another model cycle before getting their hands on an electric sports car.

Apple is rolling out the new beta of OS X to developers — and, for the first time, we have a close look at more diverse kinds of emoji.

Apple has openly acknowledged that emoji lack racial diversity; even the ones that do represent people of color are often criticized as stereotypical. Now, it looks like the Cupertino company is finally making steps in the right direction.We got our first look at the new emoji in November, but examples were limited.

It looks as though these emoji will have interchangeable swatches that can change a Caucasian emoji to a variety of different skin colors. There are six different options for hair and skin, accessible through a dropdown menu on each icon in apps such as Messages for Mac.

Right now, the new slew of emoji only show up on supported devices. For devices not running the latest software, the original white emoji characters appear in their place. 

Apple is replacing its watch emoji with — you guessed it — the Apple Watch.

Solar Impulse2: the photos of the Historic Round-the-World  Flight:

A solar-powered plane has embarked on an unprecedented flight around the world. The aircraft, known as Solar Impulse 2, is designed to fly day and night without using any fuel. The plane took off from Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, and will circumnavigate the globe as part of an initiative that is expected to last until July. Check out these photos of the Solar Impulse 2 mission. Solar Impulse 2 took off from Al Bateen Executive Airport in Abu Dhabi, to kick off the first leg of its round-the-world flight. The plane's first stop will be in Oman.Solar Impulse 2 is loaded into a cargo plane to prepare for the first-of-its-kind flight around the world. The plane began its historic journey in Abu Dhabi, but will make stops in Oman, India, Myanmar, China, and the United States along the way. The plane will also touch down in either southern Europe or North Africa, before returning to Abu Dhabi. One of Solar Impulse 2's massive wings is loaded into the cargo plane. The ultra-lightweight aircraft has a wingspan of 236 feet (72 meters). Solar Impulse 2 is powered entirely by solar panels and onboard batteries, which charge during the day. This enables the plane to continue flying even when the sun goes down, including throughout the night.

Tablets and smartphones very many have replaced the personal computers in their classic version with keyboard, mouse, monitor and the system unit. Mobile devices are becoming more comfortable, functional and productive. But to give up entirely the some accessories such as a keyboard is still not yet possible, as quickly gain business documents on the touch screen is not as convenient. A new gadget called Zagg was recently presented a group of enthusiastic developers. This device is a compact, portable keyboard for iPhone, iPad and other devices, which has dimensions of 22 × 6 × 12 inches when folded. In the unfolded form of the device is almost a full keyboard (85% of the standard). Irreplaceable thing, when you want to respond to emails and edit documents in the “hiking” conditions. This format allows the user to easily take a keyboard with you, because it can be put in a jacket pocket or jacket. Bluetooth wireless technology connects the device with your smartphone or tablet. The device has a very convenient stand for mobile phone and connected to the unfolded state is similar to a laptop. That’s great – resource built-in battery lasts for 2 years of battery life.
